Description: Martin introduced the 16 Series in 1986 soon thereafter to become a staple within the lineup. This D-16GTE Made in Nazarath Pa. has a Solid Sitka Spruce Top with GENUINE Mahogany Back and Sides. The Gloss Top has quite a lot of Bearclaw figuring (a $100-$200 upgrade with other builders) and the Real Mahogany B/Sides are nicely grained & very well bookmatched. The top bracing is of 5/16” scalloped spruce in a hybrid X pattern. Other amenities are a Tortoise Pickguard, Rosette of wide Herringbone, and Rosewood headstock overlay with Martin Logo in raised Gold Foil. Dreadnaught body size, 14 frets clear of body, nut width of 1 11/16” and a scale length of 25.4”. Single piece neck with a modified low oval profile, & large MOP fretmarker dots. I ordered this instrument From Martin with a Fishman Matrix Infinity Pickup installed at the Factory, not a standard option offered & I wanted a Pickup but not a hole cut in the side for the preamp.
